A potty full of blackberrys and a slow worm encounter!

Out for a stroll around Dalton Crags woodlands, on a beautiful sunny Friday afternoon. We love kissing gates! It’s become a bit of a tradition that we kiss going through them, and I managed to get this adorable shot of Bee kissing Daddy 😍

As we ventured further through the woods, we came upon a grassy area… And found a Slow Worm! Although it looks like a snake, it’s actually a limbless lizard (yes, there’s a difference!). Very very cool!

We didn’t realise quite how many bkackberries would be about – the ones in our hedge are mostly still green. So, feeling the need to take advantage of this abundance, but lacking in something more suitable to collect them in, we used the potette.

Thank goodness Pip didn’t need to actually use the potette!

We wondered further and found a lovely area of woodland with lots of fallen dead wood, great for a little shelter building! So after deciding it was safe to venture in (not too windy) we built a shelter. And when I say we, I mostly mean I! I may have gotten a bit carried away! It’s nowhere near complete, but I’m hoping we can pop back in the future and add to it 🙂

The kids were absolutely filthy after this, the bath water was truly minging! A sure sign of a great adventure 🙂

  1. Ha ha! Love that, dirty bath water is the sign of a good adventure, I definitely agree! I (I mean we) love making dens too, of course I may also get carried away a little, they are so fun to make! I love slow worms, they are very different to snakes and great to watch, I haven’t seen one in a while though. Loving the idea of a potty as a blackberry container, perfect idea! 🙂
Thank you very much for linking up to #Whatevertheweather 🙂 x

haha I love everything about this post (minus the lizard that looks like a snake! I’d be terrified. Dirty baths are definitely a good sign, I did have a bit of a giggle that you used the potty to collect blackberries. But they do look very yummy. Oh kissing gates take me back to my childhood!! My mum and dad used to make us do this too when we were small. So cute! Thank you so much for linking to #whatevertheweather x
